Trent Harris is a widely traveled independent filmmaker who's based in Salt Lake. His movies include "Rubin and Ed" (a 1991 cult film starring Crispin Glover as a misfit looking for a place to bury his frozen cat); the 1994 Mormon sci-fi satire "Plan 10 from Outer Space"; and 2008's "Delightful Water Universe," in which X96's Bill Allred plays a reporter trying to uncover the truth about Bigfoot controlling the TV networks with a hat made from windshield wiper blades.

What's your favorite moment in one of your films, and why? I was interviewing a cannibal in Sierra Leone. He threatened to eat me and I kept the camera rolling. No, I am not making this up. Great footage!

What are you proudest of about your career? I was shooting at a garbage dump in Phnom Penh when I found a small girl picking trash to live. I managed to get her out of that hellhole and into the best school in Cambodia. I am going to visit her later this month.

What do you think makes an interesting film? Well the film must tell me something I don't already know, which is difficult because I am so damned smart it hurts. Cute girls in major roles also helps.

Why do you like living in Utah? Because nobody else will have me and I like 3.2 beer.

What do you think about the film industry in Utah? I didn't know there was one. Does this mean I could get a job?

Do you believe in Bigfoot? I actually dated Bigfoot. But she left me too. Somebody please help!

Can your cat really eat a whole watermelon? Yes, is that unusual?

What do you mean when you say you were you "booted out of Hollywood"? I committed the unforgivable sin of making a movie, "Rubin and Ed," that didn't make a dime. Truth is you can cheat, steal, slander, and even murder somebody in Hollywood and nobody gives a damn. But you better make money or you are a goner.

What's Fling a Ding? Flingading.com is my new up-and-running web series. I love these things. And I love the idea that I can show my work on the net without having to please some popcorn-munching, dumb-as-a-stick movie critic. And I don't have to beg some chicken-poop, celebrity worshiping, film festival programmer to show my movie either, because they always say, "Sorry Trent, you just don't fit the program." Of course I don't fit the program! I thought that was the whole idea of independent film! Am I the only one in this revolution?

What projects are you working on now? After Fling a Ding I am creating another web series called "Last Night at Sweetie Poops" and it defiantly will not fit the program! I am sick of the program! I mean really, does the world need any more movies about guys trying to get into girls' pants and girls trying to get back at other girls because a guy got in their pants, and two cops who hate each other but then become friends after shooting some guy in the face before he shoots them in the face? Nope! The world needs Fling a Ding and Sweetie Poops. I am going to do it. It is my calling. Nobody can stop me.

What are your future goals? I am going to do my best not to get arrested.
