Lindsay Holt owns Nectar Massage Sanctuary, located at 215 S. 400 East, which she opened in December 2008.

Why did you decide to study massage therapy? My earliest memories are of watching my grandmother as a nurse and healer and of my mother sitting at her loom weaving beautiful artistic creations. So I feel my path has been drawn to both healing and art. I have melded these two into one, becoming a pamper artist.

What does it mean to be a "pamper artist"? There is an art to what I do. I go above and beyond what is expected of a massage therapist, turning each massage into a deeply relaxing and creative event.

What services do you offer? I offer a full range of massage/ spa services, with a focus in Ayurvedic Bodywork (treatments inspired by ancient medicine principals of India/ Tibet). I also offer Bamboo Fusion Massage, Reflexology and Visionary Cranial Sacral Therapy.

What are your prices like? Prices are very reasonable for the current economy, starting as low as $30 and up to $250. Aromatherapy and hot towel compresses are a free addition to most of the treatments.

What makes Nectar Massage Sanctuary unique? As a small business owner, 100 percent of my energy goes into creating a positive healing experience for my clients. It's the little things, such as a warm stone placed on the belly, a foot scrub or a gentle sweep of peppermint lip balm at the end of a session. And let's not forget the comfort of the treatment table. I have the Cadillac of massage tables -- you will drift into la la land the moment you lie down.

What do you think makes a good massage experience? A calm and soothing environment and the skill and quality touch of the massage therapist. And of course, attention to the client's needs, whether it be for relaxation or pain relief.

What massage techniques are you most excited about right now? I am just embarking on Thai Herbal Poultice Massage, a spectacular treatment that stimulates the senses while soothing you with warmth to alleviate muscle tension, aches and pains. The synergy between the warm Thai-style compresses (containing up to 20 exotic Thai herbs and spices) and massage creates a powerful purifying and detoxifying lifestyle treatment.

What do you enjoy most about your career? It is my creative outlet. I absolutely love seeing my clients leave with a huge smile on their faces and so much gratitude for the relief of everyday stresses. It's a true blessing and honor to share my craft with Salt Lake City.

What have been some of your biggest challenges with your clients? That I don't have more time set aside for all my clients. In a perfect world I would be giving out massages on a daily basis to all those in need.

What do you wish more people knew about massage therapy?

How deeply transformational it is, mentally, physically and emotionally. When massage is received on a regular basis -- monthly, bi-monthly or weekly -- the mental, emotional and physical effects can be felt beyond the immediate massage time. The sweetness of life is renewed!

Anything coming up that we should know about? On October 17, the Electric Chair Salon (where my studio is located), will be having an open house/ grand opening. I will be selling gift certificates for the holiday season and providing chair massage, and there will also be a drawing for free massages, haircuts/colors and a Caribbean cruise for two. Also during the month of October and November I am featuring my Ginger Spice seasonal special, which includes a Ginger Spice scrub, hot towel compresses and a warm oil massage for $15 off the regular price.
