This Week IN Comics: Three Remarkably Sexist Reasons Girls Should Read Comic Books
As a make-believe robot doctor, I've set my standards pretty high. For example, are you a Victoria's Secret model? If the answer is no, then I probably wouldn't go out with you, but you can instantly increase your odds of landing that dream date if you were to wow me with a compelling argument about why Galactus shouldn't devour the Earth. And so I bring you three remarkably sexist reasons girls should read comics. We just went over reason one: To attract a man!
I know what you're asking yourselves now, but what do you do with the highly delectable comic book nerd once you've trapped him? Cheeze-wiz nachos will only keep his attention for so long! You've got to keep him interested. Put yourself in my shoes, if you dare. I could have any woman in the world at the snap of my fingers. Dressing up like the Green Arrow might just save your relationship. Which brings me to sexist reason number two: To keep him interested!
The hidden message behind this article is that guys want to share some middle ground with their special ladies. I think comic books are a much better option than jumping into the black hole that is sports and there really isn't that much to discuss about the dishes or the laundry, or whatever it is you girls do nowadays. This brings me to the third reason, that isn't that sexist at all, but told in a profoundly sexist way: To share some common interests.
Until they invent some sort of magic liquid that can make men look past foolish womanly flaws by diluting their blood stream with an alcoholic substance, thus temporarily dropping their intelligence until you can sink your claws into them, comics are the best kryptonite we've got! Well that and vagina.
