The Constant Story of the Year

For Fans Of » Thrice, The Used

Story of the Year spent the last year stripping down their sound before beginning work on their fifth studio album. Their hard-rockin' tendencies continue to push the band further from its polished, radio-friendly debut record of 2003. The heavier sound is a better fit for the band, but wisely, they still include a little something for all of their fans -- emo ballads ("Holding on to You"), grandiose rockers ("The Burial") and scorching screamers ("Won Threw Ate)." The album's best track, "Ten Years Down," combines all of these elements, with its driving tempo, nimble guitar work, fierce delivery and huge hook. "The Constant" is a fitting title for a band that consistently puts out solid records.
